    My dad gave 25 years to a company. Then sent him home with a pink slip. And I only got 12 with him.

    He thought he'd retire there. The company had other plans.

    I know better now.

    There is no job you get to retire from.

    Even the one you love. Even the one you built from nothing. Even the one where they called you family.

    They gave you a title. You gave them your best years.

    And the whole time you were building their empire, nobody was building yours.

    Please stop waiting for a company to give you the ending you deserve.

    Build it yourself.

    I did.
