Here's a secret I shared with Business Insider on how top talent lands $100K+ roles in 2026.

Did you know that for every job that gets posted publicly, there are 4–5 more that get filled before they ever hit a job board?

That means if you're applying online and wondering why you're not getting traction — you're not failing. You're fishing in the wrong pond.

    The Visibility Problem

Most senior professionals are playing a volume game in a world that rewards relationships. They're submitting application after application through LinkedIn Easy Apply, ATS systems, and job boards — hoping something sticks.

Here's what actually happens on the recruiter side:

You open your email on a Monday morning and you have 400 applications for one role. You spend three minutes looking through them. You find one person who was referred by someone on the team. That's who you call first.

This isn't cynical — it's human nature. Recruiters trust people they know, or people vouched for by people they know.

The 3-Step Framework That Actually Works

After 20 years recruiting for Fortune 100 companies — including Amazon — and coaching 20,000+ clients across 121 countries, here's the framework I shared with Business Insider:

Step 1: Build Visibility Before You Need a Job

The professionals who land $100K+ roles fastest aren't the ones who suddenly appear when they need work. They're the ones who've been consistently showing up — sharing insights, engaging with decision-makers, demonstrating their expertise in public.

LinkedIn is your stage. Use it. Share what you know. Comment on posts from people in your target companies. Show up as the expert you already are.

Step 2: Activate Your Existing Network Strategically

Most people think "networking" means going to events and handing out business cards. That's not networking — that's hoping.

Strategic networking means identifying the 10–15 people who are one degree of separation from your target roles and having real conversations with them. Not "can you get me a job" conversations — "I'd love to learn about how your company thinks about [problem you solve]" conversations.

Step 3: Become the Candidate of Choice Before the Interview

By the time you're in the interview room, the decision should already be leaning in your favor. That happens when you've done the work to be known, trusted, and top-of-mind before you apply.

This is what I call the Theory of Hireability™ — the idea that your perceived value in the market is built long before a job opening appears.

What This Means for You Right Now

If you're a senior professional who's been applying and not hearing back, the problem isn't your resume. It's that you're invisible to the people who make hiring decisions.

The fix isn't to apply more. The fix is to become more visible to the right people in the right way.

If you want to learn the exact strategy my clients use to land six-figure remote offers without applying, I'd love to show you the full framework.
