You Are Safe With Me: Why Equity in Hiring Is Personal
Twenty years of HR data don't lie. Women, minorities, and underrepresented communities face an uneven playing field - and Lindsay Mustain refuses to pretend otherwise.
You Are Safe With Me: Why Equity in Hiring Is Personal
It needs to be said: You Are Safe With Me.
For over 20 years, I've been a fierce advocate for equality and equity in the workplace as a Human Resources professional.
In my job and during government audits, I've analyzed millions of HR data points, and the patterns are undeniable: women, minorities, and underrepresented communities are dealt a tough hand from the start. You can spin any narrative you want, but numbers do not lie.
When I released my number one best-selling book, Ace the Interview System, I made intentional choices.
I chose a cover with pink on it, and I made the candidate chosen a woman. I wanted women - and everyone who feels unseen - to visualize themselves being chosen.
Some weeks hit hard for many of us.
I'm not here to stir fear; I'm here to acknowledge the reality many of us are facing - a reality that, for many, feels uncertain and precarious.
So let me say it louder: YOU ARE SAFE WITH ME.
I don't care about your gender, age, ethnicity, disability status, skin color, family choices, or who you love.
I care about YOU. The human being who has hopes and dreams.
I'm here to help you succeed in a career game that's unfairly rigged. I've built a new set of rules to level the playing field, and I want you to win.
And together, we're unstoppable.
PS: If this offends you in any way, good - because you can see yourself to the door. This is not an airport, so no need to announce your departure - frankly, we don't care.
